Courtyard Mural
Dead End is a monumental wall painting created by means of a modular stencil painting system. The stencils were generated from hundreds of photographs the artist has taken of crudely rendered faces found on graffitied surfaces in locations across Canada and the United States. Dudiak’s painting explores individuality and dissent in a modern urbanized milieu by contrasting the transgressive public declarations of graffiti with a sequential and arbitrary production system evocative of the serial wall paintings of Daniel Buren and Sol Lewitt.
