Curated by David Liss and organized by the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art

The artists and galleries selected for ARCO 07 reflect the most diverse range of practices, from refreshing, unconventional approaches in traditional media to the most innovative technologies. All of the galleries are from Canada. Themes and subject matter range from the unique and deeply personal to the highly resonant and popular, and in some cases are embedded within ethnic cultural traditions, while others partake of the current canon of global artistic discourse. Easily categorized movements, emerging trends and general consensus are elusive. The selection is typically international in spirit, typically pluralistic  and atypical – that is to say, typically Canadian. As a youthful and exuberant nation deeply rooted in aboriginal and migratory traditions and identities, Canadian culture and the Canadian experience is the perpetual ebb and flux of a peripatetic world on the move, from the local to the global.
