Northern Ink Xposure 10th Anniversary Tattoo Convention
The theme of this year’s Northern Ink Xposure is exploring tattoo as a contemporary art form. In tandem with this, Damian McGrath, founder of the tattoo convention and tattoos.com, has joined forces with the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art to launch an art exhibition entitled Art of the Human Canvas, celebrating tattooing as a living contemporary art form and the historical and cultural significance of the tattoo medium.
As well as showcasing the works of over twenty well-known tattoo artists, the exhibition opens on June 11 with a live-art installation by renowned tattoo artist Paul Booth called the Art Fusion Experiment, an international art movement created by Booth in partnership with the Leu family from Switzerland. As part of the installation, a handpicked group of tattoo artists will be collaboratively creating one-of-a-kind floor-to-ceiling murals live over two days.
