MOCCA, Umbra, and Cossette create the “Oh So Contemporary” chair.
TORONTO, Ontario, September 25, 2012 – The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Umbra, and Cossette are launching the “Oh So Contemporary” chair as part of MOCCA’s year-long get contemporary. marketing campaign.
Following the theme of the popular, eye-catching images produced by leading creative agency Cossette depicting people dripping in hot pink paint, the OH chair, designed by Karim Rashid, is drenched in hot pink silicone.
MOCCA and Umbra share a similar mandate in making intriguing, artistic things accessible and the “Oh So Contemporary” chair is the playful, high-impact result of their partnership.

“The hot pink paint represents the experience of seeing art – it sticks with you,” says writer Caitlin Keeley from Cossette who helped create the campaign with her art director partner Josh Day. Josh adds, “We’d been thinking about making a chair as part of the MOCCA campaign and Umbra is the perfect collaborator. We like to think of it as the viewing chair, so of course it’s dripping in hot pink too.”
The chair will be unveiled to the public for Nuit Blanche on Saturday September 29th at the Umbra flagship store (Queen St. and John St.), along with video portraits from the get contemporary. campaign. The chairs will also be displayed at MOCCA from 7pm until 1am during Nuit Blanche. Additionally, there’s an opportunity to win one of the chairs exhibited by visiting both locations during the festivities.
