Thank you for a great night at the Members’ Preview of ‘The Life of a Dead Tree’

From all of us at MOCA, thank you for attending a very special evening in celebration of Mark Dion’s exhibition The Life of a Dead Tree. With your generous support as members, MOCA continues to be an accessible and welcoming hub for creative expression.

There were many unique and notable moments throughout the night. The white ash tree was welcomed by Seated Wyandot Faithkeeper, Catherine Tammaro who acknowledged its long life, the creatures it has provided a home to and the history it witnessed. Our in-museum scientist Alexandra Ntoukas provided information and answered questions about the different species that call the tree home. DJ Dopey set the mood by playing some great tunes! Check out the video to experience a bit of the evening.

The evening was made complete with the support of our onsite partners, Forno Cultura, Masi Wine, Akin Collective Studios, the Ontario Science Centre, Art Metropole, and Henderson Brewing. Thank you also to our exhibition partners, the University of Toronto Faculty of Forestry and the Royal Ontario Museum who offered their knowledge and support.

Mark Dion’s The Life of a Dead Tree will be running at MOCA until July 28. A series of talks, guided walks and workshops will be running parallel to the exhibition. To register for these programs, you can sign up here.
